Ashur Draconem Restoration and Paint Commission

A few weeks ago, the Brush and Anvil team wrapped up an exciting project, the restoration and painting of two Ashur Draconem models for a Dungeons & Dragons campaign!

When these models first arrived at our studio, they’d clearly seen better days. Both figures had broken shields, uneven resin surfaces, and significant glue residue in multiple areas. It was a challenging start, but that’s exactly the kind of project we love, transforming damaged or unfinished models into display-worthy pieces.

Our first step was a careful clean-up and restoration process. This involved removing excess glue, repairing broken components, sanding and smoothing uneven areas, and ensuring all details were crisp and ready for paint.

Once the models were properly prepped, our artist got to work bringing the client’s chosen colour scheme to life, a combination that perfectly balanced dramatic fantasy tones with intricate highlights to capture the fierce presence of the Ashur Draconem.

The end result? Two beautifully restored and painted models, ready to take their place on the D&D tabletop. The client was delighted with the finished pieces, and we’re just as thrilled to have been part of giving these dragons a second life.

We look forward to working with them again on future commissions and we hope these models make a stunning impression during their next campaign session!
